Ocha La Rocha - Ocha Scores

Can we be real for a moment? We really REALLY want you to take a listen to Ocha La Rocha‘s upcoming debut LP “Ocha Scores.” We’re pretty proud of the way it came out. It’s two parts southern rock mixed with 1 part west coast psychadelic and puts a dynamic spin on Classic Americana.  Some have referred to it as the next wave of “Cosmic American Music” once popularized by the legendary Gram Parsons.

Head over to our soundcloud page where you can stream 4 tracks off the upcoming release before its out on August 6th. Let us know in the comments below what you think! what’s your favorite track? Where do you imagine you are when you listen?

Ocha La Rocha – “Ocha Scores” Debut LP Out August 6th

Ocha La Rocha - Ocha Scores

Ocha La Rocha‘s label debut finally has a release date! JAXART will be releasing “Ocha Scores” on August 6th, 2013! The release will be available digitally wordlwide and on limited edition 12″ Vinyl.

Ocha la Rocha began in 2004 as Johnny la Rocha’s studio recording project, and evolved into a live act that debuted in 2005 to play the music scenes of Atlanta and Los Angeles. Initially OLR paid tribute to the classic southern rock of la Rocha’s Georgia hometown, but soon absorbed the burgeoning psychedelic-country sounds of the West Coast.

Ocha Lives is the culmination of 3 years work, and includes the contributions of accomplished supporting musicians including William Brandon (The Rock*a*Teens), Jason Anchondo (The Warlocks), Marcos Diableros (Spindrift), pedal steel master Page Waldrop, and Milton Chapman (The Hiss).

Johnny la Rocha’s grainy vocals and irreverent lyrics evoke a juke joint bluesman, a libidinous southern rocker, and a tender-hearted, crooning cowboy. This unlikely mix of styles is accomplished in the skillful juxtaposition of stripped down rock songs paired with lavish, quasi-psychedelic arrangements, next to wailing country folk. The result is a debut of both lush complexity and spare vintage rock. Ocha la Rocha will eat your homework, drink your beer, smoke your weed, shag your sister, tune your guitar, fix your tube amp, deep fry your turkey and impress your parents at Sunday dinner.

Ocha la Rocha’s music has been featured in films such as MGM’s “Hot Tub Time Machine” and New Line’s Going The Distance. Ocha’s music can also be heard on episodes of Sons of Anarchy (FX), Dirty Sexy Money, America’s Funniest Home Videos, LA INK (TLC), Go On (NBC) and more.

 FROM WESTERN LOWS BIO:

Western Lows didn’t form. Not all at once, anyway. The project came into being slowly, in fits and starts, over the course of 2011– a year that found Jack Burnside at loose ends, gradually assembling the material that would make up Western Lows’ debut album. 2012 saw Burnside travel from Los Angeles to Athens, GA to record with Andy LeMaster (Now It’s Overhead, REM, Azure Ray) at Chase Park Transduction.
