Last night The Henry Clay People played with The Whigs and Le Switch at The Echo. Kind of the perfect lineup if you ask me considering that Henry Clay was the founding member of the Whig Party (wiki that shit).
Photographer Benjamin Hoste shot some stellar photos at the show. You can view his entire photo set here. There’s even a photo of yours truly rocking a mean avocado (you heard me) on stage with the Clays during “Children Of Chin.”

Ok Ok They’re not ACTUALLY going to duke it out..
BUT If you’re out and about in Silverlake/Echo Park TONIGHT be sure to check out two JAXART bands who will be playing FREE Shows TONIGHT.

Fancy my luck - This past Monday The Henry Clay People AND Mezzanine Owls were playing two stellar shows on either side of town. I had to make a tough decision and missed Henry Clay People’s show.
BUT thanks to Mouse at Classical Geek Theater’s lengthy review loaded with tons of photos I feel like I was there. Joey apparently got 2/3’s of The Viper Room crowd to do rock jumps during the band’s epic final song. West of La Brea that’s like trying to part the red sea. Joey you deserve a medal.

The Henry Clay People will play with Le Switch and Division Day next Monday at The Echo while Mezzanine Owls play night 2 of their residency with Eagle And Talon, We Barbarians. and The Black Kites (head to head again!). May 19th you can catch both JAXART bands at Spaceland w/ Eli Paperboy Reed and Lovelikefire.

I missed The Henry Clay People’s Residency last week due to illness. I caught three songs this week before having to race back to Spaceland for The Pity Party. Man the residencies this month have me running around ragged! Mouse at Classical Geek Theatre has a great review of last night’s HCP show up with photos and video [READ POST].
Thank GOD Dear LA posted this video from last week up on myspace. You absolutely must check out Eli from The Monolators covering “Psycho Killer” with The Henry Clay People. It’s exquisite.
